V4Smart: From Greenfield to Digital Factory in 10 Months
Most manufacturers don't lack data. They lack data they can trust and act on in real time. V4Smart, the battery cell joint venture of Porsche and VARTA, solved this from day one: it designed the digital backbone before the legacy began.

In 10 months, V4Smart went from greenfield to an operational digital production environment. Today it produces more than 620,000 cells per week across two sites, with 3,500 parameters and 1,500 real-time quality checks per cell and 60 TB of data per day.
One Industrial Data Layer for MES, SAP and Cloud
At the core is a unified data integration layer (Connectware). Machines are integrated once, data follows one common model, and MES, SAP, AWS and analytics use the same data. Instead of asking which machine produced the scrap, V4Smart asks what happened to this product, and why. The result: 35% less scrap since January 2026.
What You Will Learn in This Expert Talk
Dr. Willem Grobler (V4Smart) and Peter Sorowka (Cybus) share:
How the architecture was built in 10 months
Three examples: scrap reduction, automated product audits, first pass rate
Five lessons for brownfield plants and multi-site networks
For decision-makers in automotive and discrete manufacturing. Includes live Q&A.
Questions answered in the webinar
How do you get a new factory to digital production in 10 months without putting the start of production at risk?
How does real-time transparency translate into 35% less scrap?
How do you avoid hundreds of one-off integrations that become tomorrow's legacy?
How do you turn connectivity into configuration, so a new use case doesn't mean a new IT project?
What can a brownfield plant or a multi-plant manufacturer take from a greenfield project?

About Cybus:
Cybus builds the governance layer for the AI-enabled shopfloor. Since 2015, manufacturers like Liebherr, Miele and Claas have run their most critical production environments on Cybus Connectware – the digital infrastructure that controls what every machine, system or AI agent can see, act on and trace across their factories. Cybus Connectware integrates any machine or system regardless of protocol, scales across unlimited sites and enforces access, audit and compliance at every data flow. Cybus builds what manufacturing runs on – and what keeps it accountable.
